Marie L. Kauffman

BENKELMAN -- Marie L. Kauffman, 95, died Saturday, (Oct. 23, 2004) at Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman.

She was born March 12, 1909, on her family's homestead in Dundy County to John and Lola (Passmore) Schrader and received her grade school education at Rural District 8. She graduated from Benkelman High School in 1926.

On August 5, 1929, she married Orlie Ray Kauffman at Wray, Colo. After a honeymoon to Colorado, Kansas and Missouri, they returned to Benkelman where they made their home and raised their daughter, Gloria.

She was baptized in the Baptist church in December of 1929 and was a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church in Benkelman.

She was a farmwife. In 1950, Marie and Orlie purchased their home in Benkelman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Schrader; husband, Orlie Kauffman; brother, Howard Kauffman and his wife, Fairy.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Lang and husband, Fred of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Leon Schrader and wife, Josephine of Benkelman; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church in Benkelman with Revs. Matt Price, Ken Wollery, and Johnny Walker officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 7 p.m. at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman.

Memorials are being accepted in her name.
