BREWSTER, Kan. -- Ruth Marie Briney, 77, died Monday (Oct. 18, 2004) at Citizen Medical Center in Colby, Kan.
She was born Feb. 25, 1927, to Ward A. Marshall and Bertha (Smith) Marshall in Clay Center, Kan. She graduate from Salina High School, Stephen's College in Columbia, Mo., and attended Kansas State University.
On July 26, 1948, she married Buell Briney. The couple made their home at the Bar LB Ranch north of Brewster.
She was a member of the General Federation of Women's Club and GFWC Beta Club of Brewster for more than 45 years. In 1959, she was president of the GFWC 6th District and a 50-year member of the St. Francis Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 404.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Marshall; and son, Mark A. Briney.
Survivors include her husband, Buell C. Briney of Brewster; daughter, Lesa Juenemann of Brewster; sons, Chad Briney of Brewster and Todd Briney of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Verona Dyck of Salina; and six grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 1 p.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Brewster with the Rev. Hal Lycett officiating. Interment will be in Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Brewster Heritage Center.
