Illene G. Asher, 71, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2004) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born Aug. 17, 1933, to Clarence and Doris (Ratliff) Walker in Thornton. The family moved around several times during her childhood. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis.
On Dec. 31, 1955, she married Floyd Asher. The couple moved to his parent's farm southwest of Wellfleet and they farmed and ranched. She taught in a country school for two years before becoming a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Floyd on March 7, 2000.
Survivors include one brother, Robert "Bob" and wife, Melody Walker of Maywood; and one sister, Rosanne and husband, Fred Moore of Golden, Mo.
Services are Wednesday, 3 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Kevin Burkhardt officiating.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m., at Blase Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
Private inurnment will be in Wellfleet Cemetery in Wellfleet.
Memorials may be given in her name.
