Bison girls golf team claims district championship

GERING -- The McCook High School girls golf team captured the Nebraska Class B-4 District Tournament at Gering Monday.
The Bison posted a 361 team score and won by five strokes over Sidney.
McCook qualified for the Class B state tournament at Grand Island next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 11-12).
Ogallal finished third with a 371 score, followed by Gering 389, Alliance 421 and Lexington 423.
Chadron and Mitchell/Morrill did not have enough players to post team scores.
The Bison brought home four of the 15 individual medals.
Defending Class B state champion Katherine Morell of McCook finished second with a 77.
She was edged out for the district title by Ogallala's Teeyl Sutton, who shot a 76.
Morell, a senior at MHS, placed first in six tournaments this fall and second in three.
McCook's Lesley Nelson placed eighth with an 88.
Justine Hager finished 12th with a 96 and Minda Haas was 15th with a 103.
Kristy Osterman rounded out the Bison scoring with a 116 score.
Ogallala's Lacey Theiler finished third with a 78.
Rounding out the top six were Lexington's Erin Ondrak with an 82 and Gering's Mandy Propp and Kylie Sauter, who both shot 86s.
Ogallala's Terrin Wells fired an 87.
