PHILLIPSBURG, Kan. -- Darrell D. Beins, 75, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2004) at Harlan County Hospital in Alma.

He was born Sept. 3, 1929, to Lawrence and Yvonne (Bundy) Satter in Stamford. He was adopted by Gilbert Beins. He then lived with his grandparents, Guy and Florence Bundy. His mother later married Gilbert Beins, who in turn adopted him. He grew up on a farm south of Precept. He graduated from Almena High School in Almena, Kan., in 1949.

After graduation he joined the Marine Corps and served 1 1/2 years before being discharged.

On Oct. 6, 1984, he married Phyllis Lambert Clason. He moved into Beaver City in 1984 and continued to farm until he retired in 2002.

In June 2003, he moved to Phillipsburg to be near his sister.

He was a board member of Maple Creek Cemetery Association for 60 years and was a member of the New Wine Fellowship Church in Orleans.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Yvonne Beins and Gilbert Beins; his father, Lawrence Satter; and wife, Phyllis in 1999.

Survivors include his sister, Maxine and husband, Leonard Robinson of Phillipsburg.

Services are Wednesday, 10 a.m., at New Wine Fellowship Church in Orleans with the Rev. Lana Dake officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City with military honors.

Visitation is Tuesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City. The casket will not be open at the church or day of services.
