BEAVER CITY -- Nellie (Schamp-Krewson) Scheibel, 84, died Sunday (Sept. 19, 2004) at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City.

She was born Aug. 12, 1920, to Schuyler and Mae (Herron) Schamp in Erickson. She grew up in the Erickson area and attended the public schools.

In 1935, she married Lyle Krewson. The couple lived in the Erickson and Spaulding area until 1950, when they moved to Red Cloud. The couple divorced in 1952. She moved to the Bladen area and worked at the Hastings Ammunition depot.

In 1958, she married Ralph Scheibel. The couple spent one year in Titusville, Fla., and then returned to Nebraska. He died in the early 1980's. She moved to Shelton, where she resided with her son Lee for over 20 years. She moved to be near her daughter Jeannie in Stamford in 1999. In 2001, she moved to the nursing home in Oxford and resided in Beaver City Manor since Sept. 21, 2001. She worked as a cook in cafe's and hotels for a large part of her life.

She was a member of the Berean Church in Shelton and Glad Tidings Church in Gibbon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three sons, Ermine and Dennis Krewson and Terry Scheibel; grandson, Tim Daley; great-grandson, Schuyler D. Groves; four sisters, Frances, Pearl, Maude and Sarah; and nine brothers, Lawrence, Skyde, Louis, Walker, Charlie, Alvin, Joe, Fred and Harry Schamp.

Survivors include two sons, Lee Krewson of Stamford and Freddie Krewson and wife, Robin of Sidney, Iowa; one daughter, Jeannie Daley of Stamford; one sister, Mae Kinney and husband, Junior of Burwell; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Ron Harris and Linda Knipping officiating. Interment will be at Prairie Center Cemetery in rural Kearney.

Visitation is Tuesday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and one hour prior to services at the church in Kearney.
