ARAPAHOE -- Edna Genevieve Burton-Cole, 95, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 2004) at CA Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

She was born June 30, 1909, to Carl and Anna (Ubben) Watson in Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1926. After high school she attended Hastings Business College to take secretarial courses. She then worked in Broken Bow, Alma and Oxford as a secretary.

On May 30, 1934, she married Frank H. Burton. The couple made their home in Holbrook. She worked for several years as a secretary in Holbrook Public Schools. Her husband died in 1979.

In August of 1983, she married Howard Cole. He died in 1987.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Arapahoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank; second husband, Howard; son, Brent Burton; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include her son, Randall and wife, Connie Burton of Holbrook; three daughters, Gail Lutjeharms of Loveland, Colo., Carla Sander of Grand Island and Virginia and husband, Don Vonderfect of Holbrook; one sister, Ora Cowan of Holdrege; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services are Wednesday, 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Robert Berlie officiating. Interment will be in Holbrook Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe.
