Kenneth 'Kenny' Golden

Kenneth "Kenny" Golden, 59, formerly of the Scottsbluff area, died Aug. 23, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island.

Memorial services will be at a later date in Sidney, at Lake McConaughy, and in Ogallala. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kenny was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan. His parents were Darrell and Fern (Lindquist) Golden. Kenny received his education in the Sidney and Ogallala school systems.

On March 1, 1962, he joined the U.S. Marines and served during the Vietnam War. He received his honorable discharge on Sept. 30, 1966.

Kenny worked as a baker with his special "Uncle Bob" in Cozad and also became an excellent carpenter working in the Gering and Scottsbluff area. Several years ago he moved to Lexington so that he might be closer to his daughter, Heather Robertson.

He loved to dance, fish, play pool, and do woodworking. He enjoyed football, especially the Cornhuskers. Kenny was also a member of the Lexington VFW.

He is survived by one daughter, Heather Fern (Mrs. Chuck) Robertson of Lexington; and her mother, Barbara Golden of Omaha.

He is also survived by two sons, Shawn Leon Golden of Auburn, Calif., and Chantz Earl Golden of Ness City, Kan.; and their mother, Sherri Kay Golden (Schneider) of WaKeeney, Kan.

Other survivors include two nieces, Chris Pringle of Lincoln, Mickie Ewing and husband Dave and their children; "Pop's grandkids", Shastina and David Jr. of Scottsbluff; one nephew, Tommy Pringle of Colo., and numerous friends throughout Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Mike; a sister, Anne; and his uncle, Bob Lindquist.
