LINCOLN -- Marie E. (Esslinger) Toomey, 79, of Lincoln, died Friday (Aug. 20, 2004) in Lincoln.
She was born Aug. 30, 1924, to Jacob and Frances (Sander) Esslinger in Gosper County. She grew up in Gosper County and attended Emanuel Lutheran School.
On Jan. 17, 1945, she married Tofy Toomey in Norton, Kan. The couple farmed in Lexington and then moved to a farm north of Arapahoe. They retired from farming in 1980 and lived in Elwood. They moved to Kearney in 1995 and then to Lincoln in October of 2001.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Niemeier; and brother, Howard Esslinger.
Survivors include her husband, Tofy of Lincoln; three daughters, Lorraine and husband, Bob Denny of Seward; Carolyn and husband, Roger Eschliman of Lincoln; Jane and husband, Jesus Morales of Sargent; one brother, Paul Esslinger of Phoenix; and seven grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Interment will be in Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church.
