ORD -- Lois Arlene Zapp, 79, died Wednesday (Aug. 18, 2004) at Valley Hospital in Ord.
She was born Jan. 31, 1925, to Charles and Winona (Ruby) Boyer in Danbury. She was raised in Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School in 1942. She attended Kearney State Teacher College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools in the McCook area.
On March 27, 1947, she married Otto Zapp in Oberlin. The couple lived in Culbertson and Lexington. In May 1950, they settled in Ord. Lois taught school at Mira Valley, Springdale and other rural schools. She was also a substitute teacher for the area.
She was a member of the Good Sams and the Bethany Lutheran Church where she was involved in various clubs and circles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dick; and two sisters, Ardis Boyer and Charlene Duck.
Survivors include her husband, Otto of Ord; one son, Doug and wife, Donna Zapp of Broken Bow; one daughter, Jan and husband, Tim Glendening of Ord; two brothers, Ron and wife, Kathleen Boyer of Salina, Kan., and Al and wife, Veda Boyer of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Roberta and husband, Duane Johannes of Salina and Enid and husband, Walter Zapp of McCook; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord with the Rev. Robert Caldwell officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fort McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell.
Visitation is Friday, 5-8 p.m., at the Ord Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name.
