Maria Feliz Dimas-Mendoza

Maria Feliz Dimas-Mendoza was born to Zenon Mendoza and Anastacia Ortiz on Oct. 15, 1933, at Zacatecas, Mexico. She passed away Aug. 13, 2004, at the Jefferson Health Center in Fairbury at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was one of eight children in the family.

She spent her early childhood and young years in Mexico and lived in Ohiowa from 1979 to 1980, returning to Mexico in 1980 where she remained until 1985. She moved back to Ohiowa where she and her husband lived until 1991, when they moved to Hayes Center. She returned to Milligan in 1996 and then moved to Ohiowa in 1997, where she remained until her death.

She attended grade school through the sixth grade. She married Guadalupe Dimas of Zacatecas, Mexico on Dec. 26, 1949, and to them 13 children were born. She was a caring mother and excellent housewife. She enjoyed reading, gardening and English classes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guadalupe Dimas on May 29, 1994; and two grandchildren, Magdalena Dimas and David Dimas.

She is survived by her children, Ignacio Dimas and wife, Yolanda of Ohiowa, Eulogio Dimas and wife, Magdalena Dimas of Hayes Center, David Dimas and wife, Elizabeth of Hayes Center, Ezequiel Dimas and wife, Silvia of Lincoln, Jose A. Dimas and wife, Alicia of Hayes Center, Josie Filipi and husband, Dan of Ohiowa and Manuel Dimas and wife, Fabiola of Ohiowa; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, 2 p.m., from the Farmer and Son Funeral Home - Kotas Chapel in Milligan with Ezequiel Dimas and Vincent Perez presiding. A prerecorded version of Ave Maria was played during the services. Casket bearers were Ezequiel Dimas, Jorge Dimas, Luis Dimas, Jose A. Dimas Jr., David Dimas, Daniel Dimas, Juan Dimas, Paul Filipi, Waylon Long and David Beasley. Interment was in the Ohiowa Cemetery with Farmer and Sons Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
