Caleb Michael Dowling

OMAHA -- While you occasionally hear about quads or quints on a national basis, it is rare in this region to have triplets. That's why the Dowling trio from Lexington are causing such a stir.

The three babies, Caleb Michael, Logan Michael and Molly Elizabeth, arrived within minutes of each other on July 27 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. They are the sons and daughter of Mike and Chrystal Dowling of Lexington. The triplets have an older sister, Hope Madeline, who is 5.

The grandparents are Ken and Ava Pierce of Kearney and Terry and Phyllis Dowling of North Platte. The great-grandparents are Richard and Vivian Pierce and Loren and Wilma Hawkinson, all of Stratton, and Clara Peters, a former McCook resident who now lives in North Platte.

At birth, Caleb weighed 4 pounds, 13 ounces; Logan weighed 4 pounds, 2 1/2 ounces and Molly weighed 3 pounds, 9 ounces.

Illustrating that triplets are a rare happening, the Pierces say the last triplets they remember in the Stratton area were the Stupka girls, who were born in the early 1940s and now reside in the Denver area.
