Richard Merrill Griffing, 71, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Thornburg, Kan., to George G. and Bessie (Logan) Griffing. He graduated in 1949 from Smith Center High School in Kansas.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a cover operator at the Electric Hose and Rubber Co.
On Dec. 11, 1968, he married Lola L. Clark in North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lola in 1998; and a sister, Delores Griffing.
Survivors include three brothers, Warren Griffing and wife Roberta, of Prairie View, Kan., Norvin Griffing and wife, Rose of Culbertson, and Bernard Griffing and wife, Esther of Kearney; a sister, Diane Roadhouse and husband, Marion of Osborne, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Wednesday morning until 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
