JENNINGS, Kan. -- Frank Ray Bennett, 87, died Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Jan. 20, 1917, at Towner, Colo., to Will and Victoria (Burnett) Bennett and was raised in Paonia, Colo. He attended Paonia Schools, Colorado State University and Fort Hays State College.
On Aug. 31, 1941, he married Claudine Bennett. The couple lived in Denver, Colo., Niagra Falls, N.Y., Russell, Kan., and Jennings.
He served on the Jennings School Board, the County Extension Board and the Decatur County Fair Board. He was a 4-H leader. He also was a member of Mountain Slope Lodge No. 186 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 106 and the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine of Jennings; three sons, Frank and wife, Karen Bennett of Oberlin, Bill and wife, Luiza Bennett of Key Biscayne, Fla., and Benny and wife, Elaine Bennett of Denver; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Jennings Methodist Church with the Rev. Glenn Krebs officiating. Interment will be at the Jennings Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Monday, 8 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Foundation Livestock Foundation or Jennings Ambulance.
