ALLIANCE -- Glenva Roberta Hinkle, 88, died Thursday (July 29, 2004) at a nursing home in Alliance.
She was born March 18, 1916, to Robert L. and Louise (Kriste) Martin in Hendley. She was raised in Hendley and graduated from Hendley High School.
On May 11, 1935, she married Edwin "Swede" Wolzen in Hendley. The couple farmed in the Hendley and Beaver City area for many years. He preceded her in death in 1962.
In June of 1963, she married Ralph Hinkle in Arapahoe. The couple made their home in Beaver City until 1967. They then moved to Oxford and opened the G&R Drive Inn. Several years later they sold the business and purchased her parent's home in Hendley. They lived there until 1996, when they moved to Holdrege. Ralph preceded her in death in 1998. She then moved to Alliance to be near her children.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe until 1999 and then she transferred her membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edwin Wolzen; her second husband, Ralph Hinkle; an infant son, Jerry; son, Neil in 2000; and sister, Merna Smith in 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Dick and wife, Nancy Wolzen of Belleville, Kan., Dennis and wife, Roxanne Wolzen of Oxford and Kent and wife, Kris Wolzen of Bettendorf, Iowa; one step-son, Donald and wife, Marcia Hinkle of Omaha; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Wolzen of Wells, Nev.; two daughter, Carolyn and husband, Dean Beck of St. Paul and Joyce and husband, Clarence Beck of Alliance; one step-daughter, Charlotte and husband, Pepper Easom of Ontario, Ore.; one brother, Bobby and wife, Burdella Martin of Arapahoe; two sisters, Irma Mart of Beaver City and Neva Longsine of Central City; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday, 1:30 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. George Naylor officiating. Interment will be in Hendley Cemetery in Hendley.
Visitation is Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City and prior to services Monday at the church in Arapahoe.
