TEXAS -- Ronald W. "Ron" Hull, Sr., of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away July 17, 2004.

He was born March 20, 1926, in Glendale, Calif., the son of John Marshall and Edna Artel Hull. He and this family moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1935. After graduating from Cheyenne High School he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to enter flight training. Before starting his training, World War II ended and flight training was canceled, but not his love for flying.

He was a proud member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association and was qualified to fly multi-engine to gliders.

After his tour of duty, Ron entered the University of Wyoming under the GI Bill. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. During his summer vacations, he drive for Greyhound Bus Line.

Ron married Delores "Dee" Henry on Dec. 30, 1950. As newlyweds, they moved to McCook where he worked for Standard Oil Company of Indiana. In 1953, he started his own business, Hull Oil Company, a regional gasoline and oil distributor and operated 32 service stations. He was elected president of the Nebraska Petroleum Marketers Association.

Active in community affairs, Ron served as president of the McCook Chamber of Commerce and volunteered to drive the McCook High School and college athletic bus for out of town games. He served on the Board of Directors for St. Catherine Hospital gaining hands-on experience in hospital administration.

In 1976, he moved to Houston and became active as a business manager of Robert Douglas and Associates, and Jason Frey and Associates, both architectural firms specializing in hospital design and management. For the Houston Community, he served as a board member and president of the Riverside General Hospital and guided it through difficult times.

In 1992, they moved to Midlothian, Va., where he served as a financial consultant to his son-in-law's company, Virginia Process Control. They returned to the Houston Area in 1995, when he retired, moving to Sugar Land.

Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dee; son, Ronald W. Hull II and his wife, Cynthia of Sugar Land; daughters, Susan Andreoletti and her husband, Peter of Midlothian, Texas; sister, Joan Hull and husband, Ralph of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother-in-law, Nelson Henry and wife, Rowene of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lucille Learmonth and husband, Allen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; granddaughters, Natalie Andreoletti and Ashley Hull; grandsons, Ronald W. Hull III and Steele Hull; two nieces; four nephews; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service is Saturday, 10 a.m., at the chapel of the Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, Sugar Land, Texas. The Rev. Jim Alcorn, director of Pastoral Care and Education at St. Luke's Hospital, will be the officiating minister. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Ronald Wayne Hull II, Ronald Wayne Hull III, Steele Hull, Peter Andreoletti, Nels Henry, Al Learmonth, Ralph Nittler, John Whitmore and Bob Connors. Graveside services will be private.
