OMAHA -- Mary T. Spickelmier, 85, died Sunday (July 11, 2004) at Betty's House in Omaha.

She was born April 22, 1919, to August and Concetta (Marsiglia) Serio in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from high school in Columbus, Ohio.

On Jan. 29, 1946, she married Leo S. Spickelmier in Columbus. The couple lived in Columbus, Palisade, David City and Omaha. She was a cashier/stenographer for Southwest Public Power in Palisade for 24 years. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Semarians, Catholic Daughters of American, PCCW, David City Senior Citizen's and the Home Extension Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, 1980; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Judith and husband, Kenneth Polacek of David City and Marjorie Brady of Omaha; sister, Josephine Gallione of Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law, Harvey and wife, June Spickelmier of Culbertson; sister-in-law, Jane Serio of Zephyrhills, Fla.; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City with the Rev. Chris Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Palisade Cemetery in Palisade Friday, 10:30 a.m.

The rosary will be Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home of David City.

Visitation is Wednesday, 9-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
