Installing a 'Slidewinder'

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

A crew works to install new playground equipment in Bartley's city park. The equipment is a memorial to Gerald Brooks, a Bartley native who died four years ago in August. Brooks' widow, Roberta, said she and Gerald have 14 grandchildren, ages two to 15, who -- along with children from the community -- will enjoy the new equipment. "The playground equipment is something to show for Gerald's memorial money, and something for the kids to play on," Roberta said. The playground includes a "Summit Climber," a deck and ladder and a "Slidewinder." William Pospichal of "Outdoor Recreation Products" of Elkhorn (right) supervised the installation of the equipment.
