LEXINGTON -- Diane R. DeVries, 59, died Saturday (June 19, 2004) at Tri County Hospital in Lexington.
She was born July 2, 1944, to Ervin and Eleanora (Huxoll) Haussler in Holdrege. She attended Holbrook Parochial School and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1962.
In September 1962, she married Charles DeVries at St. Matthews Lutheran Church of rural Holbrook. The couple made their residence in Arapahoe. She worked at the Arapahoe Coop, Arapahoe Senior Center and Schroeder Floral.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the LWML of Arapahoe and the Sweet Adelines Choir.
She was preceded in death by her father and granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Charles DeVries of Arapahoe; mother, Eleanora Haussler of Arapahoe; sons, Kurt and wife, Lisa DeVries of Arapahoe, Tim and wife, Kathy DeVries of Holbrook, Joel and wife, Michelle DeVries of Kearney and Matt DeVries of Wahoo; daughters, Suzanne and husband, Max Swantek of Grand Island and Shayna and husband, Daniel Brabec of Wahoo; brother, Terry and wife, Vicki Haussler of Holbrook; sisters, Sherry and husband, Alan Schievelbein of Arapahoe, Jeannie and husband, Bill Hobbs of Oran, Mo., Kim and husband, Dean Fisher of Arapahoe and Darcy and husband, Ron Gardner of Edison; and 11 grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. A private inurnment will be at a later date.
Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements.
