West boys, East girls prevail at CSO games

McCook's Putz,

Williams combine

for 28 points

CAMBRIDGE -- The West boys, led by McCook's Paul Putz and Willie Williams, handed the East All-Stars an 81-67 loss Friday night at the Cambridge CSO All-Star Boys Basketball Game.

The East girls defeated the West 70-66. McCook's Maggie Jones scored 5 points and had 5 steals for the West girls.

Putz and Wheatland's Luke Johnson led the West boys and all scorers with 17 points each.

Williams added 11 points for the West squad, which trailed at halftime 36-31.

Chase County's Nathan Wenzlick and Will Morales tallied 9 and 8 points, Culbertson's Todd Bauer 7, Dundy County's Austin Davis 6, Dundy County's Ben Shaw 4 and Lakeside Central's Cody Daniels 2.

Johnson pulled down 12 rebounds and Davis 11 as the West led on the boards 45-34.

Cambridge's Marcus Vontz, who signed with McCook Community College, led the East All-Stars with 15 points and added 3 steals.

Cambridge's Matt Sexton and Southern Valley's Cody Quinn added 10 points each.

Cambridge's Matt Depperschmidt scored 8 points, Loomis' Tyler Sroufe and Southern Valley's Austin Kucera 6 each, Loomis' Luke Thorell 4, Holdrege's Seth Swanson 3, Arapahoe's Brent Fanning 3 each and Eustis-Farnam's Dakotah Hueftle 2.

Sroufe pulled down 11 rebounds and Depperschmidt 8.

The East girls, who led at halftime 34-32, were paced by Holdrege's Emily Kraus with 13 points.

Southern Valley's Jenee Perkins added 11 points and Loomis' Tawna Leach 10.

The Southwestern duo of Jaime Coolidge and Caitlin Schaffert scored 9 and 7 points.

Arapahoe's Carley Chapman added 7, Bertrand's Kindey DeBoer 5, Alma's Whitney Ehrke 4 and Elwood twins Megan and Morgan Baldonado 2 each.

Megan Baldonado grabbed 10 rebounds as the East won the board battle 62-54.

Southern Valley's Taylor Wolfe led the West squad with 12 points.

Wauneta-Palisade's Staci Alberts and Dundy County's Amber Morris scored 9 points each and Chase County's Michelle Dill and Dundy County's Alison Glidden 8 each.

Wauneta-Palisade's Ashley Kitt tallied 7, Hayes Center's Kayla Laird 5, Wheatland's Amber Cullen 2 and Chase County's Samantha Pinkal 1.

Kitt pulled down 10 rebounds.
