HITCHCOCK COUNTY -- Kenneth Walter Kehler, 74, died today (June 1, 2004) at his home northwest of Culbertson.
He was born Nov. 11, 1929, to Alexander and Katherine (Grasmick) Kehler in Hitchcock County. He grew up on the family farm and attended Culbertson High School. He entered the Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
On Dec. 31, 1961, he married Lillian Corey in Culbertson. The couple spent their married life farming northwest of Culbertson.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Moorhous-Steffen-Propp VFW Post No. 6219 of Culbertson.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Kehler of Culbertson; two sons, Alan Koebel and wife, Theresa of Papillion and Kenneth "Bud" Kehler Jr. and wife, Annie of Culbertson; two daughters, Erma Boyd and husband, Ed of Columbia, Mo., and Amy Evans and husband, Bill of Great Bend, Kan.; two brothers, Albert Kehler of Harden, Mont., Raymond Kehler and wife, Eunice of Grand Island; three sisters, Esther Isaac of Stratton, Lottie White of Oak Forest, Ill., and Marie Klammes of Michigan City, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Culbertson Cemetery.
