Tyler Bieck/McCook Daily Gazette McCook National Bank Seniors assistant baseball coach Brandon Shiers (23) talks to pitcher Mason Pohl (in front of coach Shiers) with catcher Allen Shiers adding input. Pohl pitched a complete game as the Seniors routed Overton 15-3.

The McCook National Bank Seniors offense shifted into overdrive during Thursday night's 15-3 romp over Overton at the Jaycees Sports Complex.

Rebounding from a pair of shutouts from the previous night, MNB scored runs in bunches and got the game called after the fifth due to the run rule.

"This game is good for us to get our confidence back after two rough losses at Hastings," head coach Justin Wacker said. He added it was a tune up for his players.

"It gave Jared (Muehlenkamp) the chance to break out with two hard hit singles."

Mason Pohl chalked up the complete-game victory with his first pitching performance of the year. Pohl gave up three runs off three hits, struck out three and walked four in five innings of work.

"Mason had a pretty good start for us," Wacker said. "All he needs to do is cut down and the walks and he'll be effective."

MNB juiced Overton for five runs in the first, three in the second and seven in the fourth.

The Seniors rapped out 11 hits.

Along with Muehlenkamp, four other players had offensively stellar evenings.

None were as impressive as Allan Shiers‚ who went 4-for-4 with four singles and three runs scored.

Ryan Ball went 2-for-3 with two singles and four RBIs. And both Ross Jones and Sean Cappel added doubles.

The win improved MNB's record to 2-3.

MNB will continue its busy schedule through the Memorial Day Weekend as they travel to Ogallala on Friday night to play at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, MNB will host Aurora for doubleheader with games scheduled for 1 and 3:30 p.m.

Then on Monday, MNB will play in its own Memorial Day Tournament at Jaycees Sports Complex.

The Seniors play Gothenburg at noon.

Imperial and Ogallala will face off at 2:30 p.m.

The losers will meet at 5 p.m. and the championship game will be at 7:30 p.m.

MNB will host Cozad at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
