NELSON -- Sydney E. Schoeni, 93, of Nelson, died Friday (May 7, 2004) in Nelson.

She was born Dec. 31, 1910, to Art and Alice (Reynolds) Chase in Holdrege. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1929. She moved to Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska to earn a bachelor of science degree in biology and English.

On June 21, 1936, she married Maury B. Campbell. He died May 30, 1975.

On Nov. 15, 1980, she married Dr. TE Schoeni in Mission, Kan. The couple made their home in McCook. He died March 2, 1992. She then moved to Hastings to be close to her daughter in Guide Rock. After a short illness, she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson.

She was a member of the DAR Niobrara Chapter in Hastings, The Order of Eastern Star Acacia Chapter No. 39, Hastings Chapter and Olive Chapter No. 63 in Superior, the American Association of University Women and St. Mark's Episcopalian Church in Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, Gaylord, Paul and Raymond; and two sisters, Helen Keliehor and Audrey Howie.

Survivors include her children, Jean Keifer and husband, Bob of Guide Rock, Robert Campbell and wife, Leslie of Fairfax, Va., and Scott Campbell and wife, Carol of Lawrence, Kan.; step-daughter, Mary Lynn Stayton and husband, Tom of Gunnison, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are Tuesday, 3 p.m., at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with the Rev. Dorthea Fairbanks officiating. Interment will be Evergreeen Cemetery in Superior.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Tuesday, 9 a.m., until the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Superior United Methodist Church of the Nuckolls County Museum.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior is in charge of the arrangements.
