Southern Valley 2nd in home golf meet

OXFORD -- With three golfers in the top seven, Southern Valley earned second place at its own invitational Thursday.

Axtell took the team title with a score of 340 at the Southern Valley golf invitational at the Cardinal Country Club in Oxford.

Southern Valley was runner-up with 344.

Medicine Valley closely followed in third with 345, trailed by Culbertson with 352.

Arapahoe was eighth with 383, while Maywood shot a 406, Lakeside Central a 410 and Twin Valley a 441.

Bertrand's Dustin Pierce claimed the individual title with a score of 77, followed by Mitch Anderson of Axtell with 79.

Tied with a score of 80, Axtell's Mark Anderson edged John Krull of Medicine Valley in a playoff, for the third position.

Southern Valley claimed the next three spots with Josh Murdoch finishing with an 82, good for fifth place.

Cody Quinn earned sixth placed over teammate Mike Powell and Garrett Rippen of Culbertson, all who shot and 84.

Arapahoe's Brett Fanning was ninth with an 85.

Jordan Wilcox of Medicine Valley and Arapahoe's Sebastian Edwards both finished with an 86, with Wilcox taking the playoff win.

The 12th and 13th spots went to Caleb Woollen of Axtell and Adam Marshall of Elm Creek with an 87 and 88, respectively.

Bryce Cook of Culbertson was 14 with an 88, while Medicine Valley's Josh Nutt finished in 15th, also with an 88.
