Ethel Ellen Peterson, 71, died Monday (May 3, 2004) in hospice care in McCook.
She was born Jan. 8, 1933, to Homer and Mabel (Dack) Vaughn in McCook. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1950. She graduated from McCook Junior College and Kearney State College in Kearney with a bachelors degree in business.
On June 2, 1950, she married Alfred Frank Peterson. She was employed by the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Department as a dispatched and later worked at El Dorado Manor Home in Trenton. She spent her life in the Trenton community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on Feb. 9, 1978; one grandson, Justin in 2002; one granddaughter, Rebecca in 1988; two brothers, Clifford Vaughn and Kenneth Vaughn; and two sisters, Virginia Alberts and Gladys Vontz. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Cline and husband, Roger of Grand Island and Susan Brunswick and husband, Jerry of McCook; three sons, Gerald Peterson of McCook, Daniel Peterson and wife, Cynthia of McCook and John Peterson and wife, Kate of Elwood; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment will be in the Palisade Cemetery in Palisade.
