Wolters, Horinek double winners at Oberlin

OBERLIN -- Atwood's Emily Wolters swept the hurdles events at the Decatur Community High track meet Tuesday, winning both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

She finished with times of 16.76 and 48.07, respectively. She also added a third-place finished in the 200 meter dash.

Teammate Bethany Holste took the title in the pole vault with a leap of 9 feet even, edging out Oberlin's Abby Ream.

Ream did take the javelin with a throw of 120 feet, 1 inch, leading her team to a third-place finish in the team standings with 60 points.

Smith Center, Kan., won the girls' team title with 106 points.

Caitlin Schaffert led Southwest High with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the high jump and discus and a sixth-place showing in the shot put.

On the boys side, Oberlin finished with 50 points, good for sixth-place. St. Francis had 34, Atwood 30 and Southwest High had 25 points.

Atwood's Jeff Horinek took the shot put title with an effort of 57 feet, 5 inches and the discus with a throw of 184-6.

Oberlin's Egan Grafel won the triple jump with a total of 42 feet, 0.5 inch.
