CLAYTON, Kan. -- Evelyn E. Shaw, 84, died Wednesday (April 7, 2004) at her daughter's home in Clayton, Kan.
She was born Aug. 20, 1919, to John Paul and Agnes Mary (Heagney) Slaven in Selden. She was raised in Prairie Dog Township in rural Selden and graduated from Selden High School.
On Aug. 16, 1939, she married Clifford A. Shaw in Straton, Colo. She lived in Denver, Colo., Selden, Glade, Kan., Dresden and Clayton. She was a homemaker and a farm wife.
She was a member of St. Phillips and St. James Catholic Churches, Willina Workers 4-H, Kansas Pride Program, Selden EHU Unit, Selden Garden Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; two sisters, Dorothy Axton and Doris Harold; son-in-law, Donald Bittel; and twin great-grandchildren, Johnny and Lauren Shaw.
Survivors include two sons, John Elmer Shaw and wife, Arola of Glade and Francis Edward Shaw and wife, Anita of Agra, Kan.; three daughters, Barbara Ann Bittel of Greeley, Colo., Agnes Louise Davis and husband, Richard of Auburn, Wash., and Laura Lorraine Robinson and husband, Joe of Clayton; brother, John Slaven; and 19 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 2:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Rev. George Kochuvelikkakam officiating. Interment will be in Selden Cemetery.
Vigil services are today, 7:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden.
Visitation is today, until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 9 a.m., until service time.
Memorials may be given to the Evelyn E. Shaw Memorial Fund.
