KEARNEY -- Rochella M. Roberts, 67, died Saturday (April 10, 2004) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born June 1, 1936, to Clifford and Lena V. (Sayer) Fichtner in Cambridge. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955. She attended McCook Community College, Mary Lanning School of Nursing and she later graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in 1962 with a degree in education. She taught in Eustis, Kimball and Grant.
On Aug. 1, 1964, she married Albert Roberts in Harrisburg. The couple moved to Cambridge in 1965. She was employed with the Cambridge Manor as a certified nurses aid for 27 years, before her retirement. She also worked with the weather bureau as an observer providing information about the weather along with snow and rain measurements. She left her home in 2002 and went to St. James Nursing Facility in Kearney due to the health problems.
She was a 50-year member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and Ruth Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Frank.
Survivors include her husband, Albert of Cambridge; two daughters, Rhonda and husband, Greg Bothe of Lincoln and Diane and husband, John Beal of Grand Island; one son, Keith and wife, Melanie of Kearney; one brother, Rolland and wife, Shirley Fichtner of Hastings; and seven grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.
Memorials may be given in her name.
