BARTLEY -- Maxine E. (Leafdale) Downer, 76, died Monday (March 29, 2004) at her home north of Bartley.
She was born July 10, 1927, in Kimball to George and Minnie (Larson) Leafdale. She graduated from Banner County High School in Harrisburg in 1944.
In 1945, she married Kenneth Downer. The couple farmed in Banner County until 1961. They then moved to a farm north of Bartley.
She was a member of the Kemper Memorial United Methodist Church in Bartley and the Dorcas Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Bartley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Kenneth.
Survivors include four sons, Steve and wife, Patricia of Bartley, Herb and wife, RozLynn of Mason City, Tom and wife, Cheryl of Wichita, Kan., and Andy and wife, Pamela of Cambridge; two daughters, Susan and husband, Steve Ervin and Holly and husband, Jim Mollhoff, all of Cambridge; one brother, Norris Leafdale and wife, Judy of Harrisburg; one sister, Marjorie and husband, John Loehlin of Austin, Texas; one brother-in-law, Howard Downer and wife, Margie of Harrisburg; three sisters-in-law, Marguerite Bjornsen of Vancouver, Wash., Maxine Corr and Betty Downer of Gering; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Bartley Cemetery in Bartley.
Memorials may be left in her name at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
