WICHITA, Kan. -- DeWayne Lee Vacura, 70, died Thursday (March 18, 2004) at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan.
He was born Jan. 22, 1934, to Jim and Mildred (Kaspar) Vacura on a farm near Jennings. He attended Jackson Country School graduating from Jennings High School in 1951.
He entered the Army following the Korean Conflict.
On May 27, 1956, he married Frances Bullmore. He was a farmer and rancher. He moved into Oberlin in 1987.
He was a member of the Oberlin Assembly of God Church and was a Co-op board member for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and niece Suzeann Severns.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Vacura of Oberlin; son, Tom Vacura of Jennings; daughter, Gayle White and husband, Jeff of Goddard, Kan.; sister, Donna Severns and husband, Neil of Norton, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.
Services were today, 2:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Royce Leitner officiating. Interment will be in Oberlin Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Assembly of God Church.
