GOTHENBURG -- Eva A. Herman, 84, of Brady, died Monday (March 15, 2004) at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg.
She was born Jan. 20, 1920, to Jesse and Alma (Wymore) Buker in Freedom. She attended school at the Hilltop School near Freedom through the 8th grade.
On Oct. 18, 1939, she married George Herman in Oberlin. They lived in Stockville until 1952, when they moved to Brady. Her husband died May 10, 1987.
She was a member of the Brady United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Guy, Rex and Roy; three sisters, Mary Esther and Aurie; one son, Marion "Cork" Herman in 1963; a great-grandson, Landon Dodson in 1985; a daughter-in-law, Jean Herman in 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Artis and husband, Thorval Hansen of Burwell and Marilyn and husband, Byron Brown of Curtis; son, Ron Herman of Brady; two brothers, Frank "Bill" and wife, Nancy Buker of Brookline Station, Mo., and Jay Buker of North Platte; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Brady with the Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Interment will be at Arbor Cemetery in Stockville at 3:30 p.m.
Visitation is today and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg. The family will meet people Thursday, 7-9 p.m.
