OBERLIN -- Clarence John Bruggeman, 78, died Thursday (March 11, 2004) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born June 18, 1925, to Brenard and Anna (Wolf) Bruggeman in Leoville, Kan. He was raised in Leoville and attended school there.
On Oct. 7, 1952, he married Helena Baalman in Leoville. He was a farmer and rancher. He moved to Oberlin in 1999 from Leoville.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Bruggeman; sisters, Laura Olson, Rose Mary Berls and Rita Helm.
Survivors include his wife, Helena Bruggeman of Oberlin; two sons, Larry Bruggeman of Colby, Kan., and Gary and wife, Alvera Bruggeman of Oberlin; two daughters, Regina and husband, Joe Stanley of Oberlin and JoAnn and husband, Bob Schuler of Oberlin; and six grandchildren.
Services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville with the Rev. George Kochuvelikkakam officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.
Visitation is Saturday and Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.
Vigil services are Sunday, 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mount Calvary Cemetery fund, for masses or to hospice.
