OBERLIN -- Alvin Duane Jording, 59, died Sunday (March 7, 2004) at his home in Oberlin.

He was born April 20, 1944, to Alvin Jay and Fern (Towery) Jording in Oberlin. He was raised in Oberlin and attended school at Oberlin Elementary. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1962 and attended Fort Hays State University.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked at the Decatur County Co-op Grain Elevator for 23 years.

He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and the Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry; and sister-in-law, Janice Jording.

Survivors include his parents, Alvin and Fern Jording of Oberlin; son, Cobe Jording of Douglas, Wyo.; daughter, Susan and husband, Brian Dier of Lincoln; brother, Clayton Jording of Medford, Ore.; sister, Marjorie and husband, Phillip Law of Lakewood, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be in Kanona Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name to Decatur Recreation Program.
