TRENTON -- Ruth L. Foley, 93, died Sunday (Feb. 29, 2004) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
She was born May 25, 1910, to Edward Lovelace and Mabel (Matthews) Cotton in McCook. She grew up in McCook and attended high school there.
On July 2, 1928, she married Bruce Mackey, who preceded her in death in 1935.
On Feb. 18, 1946, she married John Foley in Oberlin. The couple lived in McCook.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, John on Jan. 26, 1975; one son, Harold Mackey in 1993; one granddaughter, Kimberly Shaffer; two brothers, Robert Cotton and Edward Cotton; and two sisters, Iva Palmer and Alma Mann.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Mackey and companion, Lorine Bauguess and Michael Foley and wife, Marie of McCook; three daughters, Velda Nadine Guirrere of Costa Mesa, Calif., Katherine Peters and husband, Kenneth of Simi Valley, Calif., and Karen Shaffer and husband, Ron of Mack, Colo.; two brothers, Howard Cotton and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charles Cotton and wife, Fran of Hinkley, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
