John William 'Johnny' Thulin

LOOMIS -- John William "Johnny" Thulin, 25, died Friday (Feb. 27, 2004) in Loomis as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born Dec. 16, 1978, in Topeka, Kan., to Thomas C. and Tracey (Ellis) Thulin. He spent the majority of his life in Oxford, where he attended school. He was involved in football, wrestling and other sports throughout his childhood. After his education, he worked in construction in Colorado and later in Nebraska. He was employed with Newstrom-Davis Construction Company in Holdrege.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Milton "Tillie" Thulin; an uncle, James Freshwater; and his great-grandparents.

Survivors include his fiance, Erin Gehrig of Loomis; one son, Gage William Thulin of Loomis; his parents, Tracy Benzel and husband, Kevin of Crook, Colo., and Tom Thulin of Oxford; two brothers, Spencer and Travis Thulin of McCool Junction; grandparents, Phyllis Thulin of Oxford, Jean Fiedler of Beaver City and Harold Ellis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his fiance's parents, Roger and Micki Gehrig of Alma.

Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Oxford with the Revs. Robert E. Berlie Sr., and Linda Knipping officiating. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery.

Visitation is today, 1-9 p.m., at the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege and prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to the family in support of his son.
