DENVER -- John Bernard "JB" Schlageck, 74, of Selden, died Friday (Feb. 26, 2004) at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver.
He was born Oct. 4, 1929, to Herman and Ellen Kathryn (Huber) Schlageck on a farm southwest of Selden. He was raised on the family farm near Selden. He attended Fairview Grade School and graduated from Selden Rural High School in 1947.
He served in the Army in the Korean Conflict.
On Aug. 11, 1962, he married Marcia Schiefen in Colby. He was a parts man for an agricultural business.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Selden American Legion Post No. 321, where he served as adjutant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Kathryn Schlageck.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia of Selden; son, Mike and wife, Sue Schlageck of Victoria, Kan.; brother, Herman "Jr" and wife, Anna Bell Schlageck of Hoxie, Kan.; two sisters, Betty and husband, Richard Pauls of Selden and Mary Ellen and husband, Larry Smith of Norton.
Services were today, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Rev. George Kochvelikkakam officiating. Interment will be in Selden Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Selden American Legion Post No. 321.
