Ten incumbents file for re-election

Ten incumbents met the 5 p.m. deadline Tuesday for the 2004 election.

Both Dennis Stritt and Michael Harris have filed for seats on the Indianola City Council. Ron Soden and Mike Gonzales have filed for re-election to the McCook School District No. 17 Board of Education. Jack Clark did not meet the filing deadline.

Duane Teter and John O'Dea threw their hats in the ring for re-election to the Board of Education for the Red Willow County School District No. 179 Board of Education. Kathy Lord and Mark Hayes did not file.

Steve Downer will be on the ballot for Red Willow County Commissioner.

The two seats on the McCook City Council occupied by Councilman Dick Trail and Mayor Jerda Garey will be left open. Garey said family obligations and concerns over her husband's health were key factors in her decision. Trail could not be reached for comment.

Merle Berry, incumbent for the Village of Danbury Board of Trustees file for re-election on Feb. 9. Berry died on Feb. 13th. His funeral was this morning at 10 a.m.
