Norma Jean (Doetker) Fortkamp

WAUNETA -- Norma Jean (Doetker) Fortkamp, 68, died Sunday (Jan. 15, 2004) at Bryan LGH Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

She was born April 17, 1935, to John and Lena (Busking) Doetker in Dundy County. She grew up and attended country school south of Wauneta. She graduated from Wauneta High School in 1953.

On Jan. 31, 1954, she married Marlin Fortkamp at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the south divide. The couple made their home in Wauneta where they owned and operated the Sports Club Bar for many years.

She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry; sister, Donna Doetker; in-laws, Fred and Merle Fortkamp; and sister-in-laws, Darlene Fortkamp and Diana Doetker.

Survivors include her husband, Marlin of Wauneta; son, Steve Fortkamp of Wauneta; brothers, Virgil and wife, Judy of Palisade and Gary, also of Palisade; brothers-in-law, Floyd Fortkamp and wife, Lelia of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Pastor Gary Fortkamp and wife, Gloria of Effington, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Vaunda Hyde and husband, Don of McCook, Mary Estis and husband, Roger of Quincy, Calif., and Nita Frost and husband, Jerome of Omaha; and one granddaughter.

Services are Wednesday, 10:30 a. (MST), at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Inurnment is at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

A memorial has been established in her name.
