BENKELMAN - Eugene Miller, 77, died Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2004) at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.
He was born Dec. 29, 1926, on his family's farm in Cheyenne County, Kan., to John and Sophia (Lampe) Miller. He spent his childhood on the farm.
He entered the Army in 1945 and received his honorable discharge in 1947.
On June 23, 1949, he married Margaret Ilene Bishop in McDonald. The couple spent their lives in Benkelman. He worked a variety of jobs during his life, including a gas station, setting up machinery at Valley Farm and working for the Dundy County Road Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophia Miller; his wife, Margaret Ilene in 1983; sisters, Vernell, Viva and Louise; and brothers, Dale and Kenneth.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Els and husband, Richard, Peggy Bernard and husband, Gary and Rebecca Brown, all of Benkelman, Jyl Voge and husband, Al of Lincoln; sisters, Bernice Bandel and husband, Ruben of St. Francis, Hollis Green and husband, Jim of Kansas City, Kan.; brothers, Willard Miller and wife, Ila of Sterling, Colo., Marion Miller and wife, Betty of St. Francis; sister-in-law, Marian Miller of St. Francis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 10 a.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel with Spencer Parker officiating. Interment will be in Benkelman Cemetery.
