ARAPAHOE -- Faye Lillian Johannsen, 85, died Friday (Jan. 30, 2004) at CA Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Nov. 4, 1918, to Harrison and Pearl (Gorton) Remington in Holbrook. She attended Holbrook High School and graduated with the class of 1936. After school she went to California and worked in a plane factory during World War II.
On Sept. 13, 1943, she married Jack C. Johannsen in Arizona. The couple moved to Holbrook after her husband was discharged from the service. She worked at Holbrook Public Schools as a cook and secretary. She was also the city clerk for the Village of Holbrook. In 2000, the couple moved to Sunshine Village in Arapahoe and in 2002 to the CA Mues Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Baptist Women and the Women's Club, all of Holbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Arapahoe; two sons, Roger and wife, Mary Johannsen of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Dale Johannsen of North Platte; one daughter, Linda and husband, Ken Widick of Grand Junction, Colo.; two brothers, Clarence and wife, Delta Remington of Duarte, Calif., and Arthur and wife, Marcia Remington of Holdrege; two sisters, Marilyn and husband, Gene Stark of Buena Vista, Colo., and Marjorie and husband, Leroy Ducheck of Dorchester; and nine grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Holbrook with Dale Whitson officiating. Interment will be at Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home and Tuesday prior to services at the church.
