Ralph George Pochop
ATWOOD -- Ralph George Pochop, 82, died Saturday (Jan. 24, 2004) at Rawlins County Hospital in Atwood.
He was born April 14, 1921, to Rudolph Peter and Vincentia (Movotny) Pochop north of Beardsley, Kan.
He was a life-long member of the Catholic church. He served in the armed services from 1942 to 1946. He was a 50 year member of the Catholic Workman Branch No. 74 and the American Legion Post No. 46.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lorens, Helen Douthit and Agnes Pochop; brother, Vincent Pochop; and a brother and sister in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Pochop; son, Roger Norbom and wife, Janet of Tacoma, Wash.; stepsons, William Solko and wife, Schelly of Bakersfield, Calif.; stepdaughter, Virginia Sligar of Hutchinson, Kan; sisters, Angie Demmer of Lakewood, Colo., and Margaret Faimon of Stratton; brothers, Frank and wife, Elizabeth and Victor and wife, Lucy of Atwood; brother-in-law, Daniel Wolkensdorfer and wife, Carolyn of McClean, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial is Wednesday 10:30 a.m., at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in rural Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Sam Hubbard Post No. 46 of Atwood.
Visitation is today, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. A parish vigil and Catholic Workman Rosary will be recited today, 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Rawlins County Health Center Hospice Room or to the charity of the donor's choice.
