Ward Gerhartz wedding

PALISADE -- Larissa Ward and Shane Gerhartz, both of Palisade, were united in marriage July 19, 2003, at United Methodist Church in Palisade with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating.

Parents of the couple are Bill and Nancy Ward of Palisade and Sandra Ferguson of Haxton, Colo. Grandparents of the couple are Elaine Peterson of Palisade, the late Van Peterson, Harley and JoAnn Ward of Palisade and Bill and Beth Smith, also of Palisade. Great-grandmother of the bridegroom is Geraldine Smith of Palisade.

The bride wore a white, crepe satin dress that featured an empire waist with an attached overskirt of shimmering illusion. The overskirt flowed in a cathedral-length train. Victorian winged sleeves draped from her elbows to her mid-calf. Pewter angels swung from the sleeve points. Double crocheted lace trimmed the dress at the bodice and hem.

Vanessa Sherman of Peru and Sabrina Ward of Palisade, sisters of the bride, were the maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashley Gerhartz of Palisade, sister of the bridegroom, Ashli Grimes of Lincoln and Sommer Schneider of McCook. They each wore crepe satin, floor-length slip dresses of primrose yellow, trimmed in white double crocheted lace with glove length sleeves of yellow chiffon.

The best man was Matt Applegarth of Palisade. The bridegroomsmen were Noah Knudson of Wauconda, Ill., Tim and Mark Knudson of Schaumburg, Ill., cousins of the bridegroom and Andrew Ward of Palisade, brother of the bride.

The flower girl was Leiauna Alberts of Palisade and the ring bearer was Tony Knudson of Auburn, both cousins of the bridegroom. The ushers for the ceremony were Shawn and Cory Flaig of Palisade, cousins of the bride.

Candlelighters were Chad Flaig, cousin of the bride, and Sasauna Alberts, cousin of the bridegroom, all of Palisade. The bride's personal attendant was Chawnta Durham of Lincoln. Attending the gift table was Autumn Alberts, cousin of the bridegroom and Katie Flaig, cousin of the bride, both of Palisade.

The reception was at the Hitchcock County Fairgrounds in Culbertson. The host couples were Tom and Cindy Monnahan of Palisade, aunt and uncle of the bride, and Bob and Alma Romine of Palisade. Reception servers were Cathy Dunham of Bennington, Kan., Dwana Flaig of Palisade and Cheri Hahn of McCook, all aunts of the bride.

The couple honeymooned in Estes Park, Colo., and toured Rocky Mountain National Park.

The bride is a physical therapist assistant at the Good Samaritan nursing home and out patient clinic in Goodland, Kan. The bridegroom is attending college at Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland as a engineer technician. He has plans to graduate in May.

The couple is making their home in Goodland.
