BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Kevin Leroy Vernon, 45, died Wednesday (Jan. 14, 2004) at his home in Blue Springs, Mo.
He was born Oct. 2, 1958, in Oberlin to Glenn Eldon and Florence "Tiny" L. (Hoppes) Vernon. He was raised in the Norcatur area. He attended Norcatur Grade School and Dundy County High School. He graduated from Salina South and Emporia State University.
On Dec. 7, 1984, he married Diane Stewart in Bedford, Texas. He lived in Bedford and then Blue Springs. He was a computer operator for Masters and Johnson Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles "Chuck" Vernon in 1994; and two nephews, Jimmy and Terry Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Vernon of Blue Springs; one son, Glenn Vernon of Blue Springs; one brother, Voyle "Butch" Vernon and wife, Beverly of Lafayette, Colo.; and three sisters, Barbara Kirkpatrick of Abilene, Kan., Janice Hayes and husband, Richard of Atwood and Ronda Hill of Denver, Colo.
Services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Jim Plotts officiating. Interment will be in Norcatur Cemetery in Norcatur, Kan.
Visitation is Saturday, from 8 a.m., until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
