Harold L. Hewitt, 72, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 2004) at his home in McCook.

He was born April 13, 1931, to Clarence and Anna Elizabeth (Cunningham) Hewitt in Hayes County. He grew up in Palisade and Wauneta where he attended the Palisade and Wauneta School systems.

On July 30, 1960, he married Charlotte Meissner in McCook. The couple resided in Wauneta where he was employed with Wauneta Co-op before moving to McCook, where he was employed by the McCook Equity and Stockmans Feed and Supply. He retired in 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene, Boyd and Gary Hewitt.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Hewitt of McCook; three sons, Harold L. Wilson of Ogallala, David Washa and wife, Melanie, also of Ogallala, and Chris Hewitt of Lexington; three daughters, Deborah Simms of Okalahoma City, Okla., Terry Jasnoch of Washington and Sandra Speer and husband, Jeff of Clearwater; four brothers, Fred Hewitt and wife, Carol of Washington, Stanley Hewitt and wife, Darlene of Sterling, Colo., Don Hewitt and wife, Jan of Holyoke and Neldon Hewitt and wife, Linda of Washington; one sister, Sharon Buffington and husband, Kent of Wauneta; and 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given in his name and left at Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook.
