ENDERS -- William Duane "Bill" DeHart, 55, died Thursday (Jan. 1, 2004) in an accident at Enders Reservoir in Enders.
He was born July 10, 1948, in Wauneta to Mason and Beulah (Wickizer) DeHart. He grew up and attended school in Wauneta.
On May 9, 1968, he married Vicky Lee Weiss in Holyoke, Colo. Soon after he was inducted in the Army. He served in Vietnam as a medic. He returned to Wauneta after his discharge in April of 1970. He became a licensed electrician. He added plumbing in later years. He became self-employed in 1980 and was the owner of DeHart Electric.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mason; grandparents, Theodore and Jessie Wickizer; Floyd and Nellie DeHart; parents-in-law, Tunic and Jeanne Weiss; and brother-in-law, Mike Weiss.
Survivors include his mother, Beulah of Wauneta; wife, Vicky of Wauneta; two sons, Mac DeHart and wife, Jody of Imperial and Jim DeHart and wife, LaShon of Laramie, Wyo.; two daughters, Michelle DeHart and friend, Mike Junenemann of Colby, Kan., and Traci DeHart of Wauneta; two sisters, Genevieve Magee and husband, Don of Atwood and Margaret Stamm and husband, Bob of Benkelman; one brother, Mason DeHart Jr., of Fort Collins, Colo.; uncle, Leland DeHart and wife, Glendene of Wauneta; and six grandsons.
Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m.(MST), at United Methodist Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Visitation is Monday, 2-6 p.m.(MST), at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established in his name to the EMT Unit and Volunteer Fire Department of Imperial and the Dive and Rescue Units of Sutherland and Ogallala.
