SELDEN -- Etta Marie Sulzman, 75, died Friday (Jan. 2, 2004) at her home in Selden.
She was born May 8, 1928, to Peter D. Pauls and Margaret A. Duesberg in Leoville, Kan. She was raised in Leoville and attended Leoville Grade School. She graduated from Selden Rural High School in 1946.
On May 23, 1950, she married Johnnie Sulzman in Selden. The couple resided in Selden, where she was a postmaster. The couple also owned a propane business in Selden.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and Christmas Club, all of Selden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie Sulzman on Oct. 17, 1996; son-in-law, Kenny Sabatka on June 14, 1994; brother, Martin Pauls; and three sisters, Eulalia Berls Mayo, Juletta Boultinghouse and Amelia Sulzman.
Survivors include four sons, Wayne and wife, Deanna Sulzman of Colby, Kan., Kelvin and wife, Vicky Sulzman of Oakley, Kan., Loran Sulzman of Selden and Randy Sulzman; one daughter, Rhonda Sabatka of Selden; one brother, Richard and wife, Betty Pauls of Selden; two sisters, Pauline and husband, Leo Grace of Midland, Texas and Lavina Thomas of Wheatridge, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
Services are Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Revs. George Kochuvelikkakam, Ken Lohmeyer and Roger Meitl. Interment will be in Selden Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday 8-10 a.m., until service time at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden.
A vigil service is today, 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home in Selden.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Furnace Fund.
