Life could be pretty cruel and grim back in 1902. I found it especially sad that in the reporting of the death and funeral services for Conrad Amen's little one-year-old girl, her given name was never once mentioned. "The little one had been placed in its cab to sleep and in the morning was found dead. In some manner the sleeping infant had slipped down toward the front end of the cab and was strangled to death by the retaining leathern strap."
