BIGFORK, Mont. -- Eugene Leonard Stout, 77, died Tuesday (Dec. 9, 2003) at the Kalispell Regional Hospital in Kalispell, Mont.
He was born April 8, 1926, to Stanley Thomas and Grace Lucille (Young) Stout at Longford, Kan.
He grew up in the Longford area and following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He flew many missions over Germany and the south Pacific.
On Dec. 27, 1946, he married Lila Fern Rinehart. He operated his own trucking company and G&L in Grand Island before retiring in 1990.
He is preceded in death by an infant sister; his father; a daughter, Connie; his wife, Lila; son-in-law, Carl Smock; brothers-in-law, Wilford Moses and Wayne Gasswint.
Survivors include his mother, Grace Stout of Abilene, Kan.; daughters, Ree and grandsons, Richard and Stephen Smock of McCook, Janet and husband, Ray Clark of Bigfork, Mont., and grandson, Gene and wife, Moriah and great-grandson, Riley Clark of Columbia Falls, Mont.; sisters, Eva Moses of Council Grove, Kan., and Dora Gasswint of Abilene; brothers, Stanley and wife, Lizetta Stout of McPherson, Kan., and Merl and wife, Berneice Stout of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be at the West Lava Cemetery in Grand Island at a later date.
