CAMBRIDGE -- Lyle Story, 85, of Holbrook, died Sunday (Nov. 30, 2003) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1917, to Clyde and Minnie (Krimmelmier) Story in Bartley. He served in World War II in the Army. He was in the military for six years.
On Oct. 11, 1946, he married Blanche Frerichs in Omaha. He drove a cab for several years in Omaha. The family moved to Holbrook in 1951. He kept busy with many different jobs. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers building dams in Trenton and Elwood. He worked construction on Highways 6 and 34. He moved to Cambridge Manor in January 2003.
He was a member of Burton's Bend VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blanche; one brother, Russell; one sister, Gwen Fletcher; and granddaughter, Tricia McCracken.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda McCracken and husband, Tim and one son, Jerry, all of Holbrook; one sister, Grace Smith of Lebanon; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment is in the Holbrook Cemetery. Military Committal will be provided by Burton's Bend VFW.
