Albert Jacob Troester, 92, died Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Oct. 3, 1911, to William and Elizabeth (Wall) Troester in Bartley. He grew up on the family farm south of Bartley where he attended Trinity Lutheran School.
On Aug. 28, 1936, he married Edna Bamesberger at Trinity Lutheran Church south of Bartley. Edna died Sept. 24, 1959.
On Dec. 29, 1964, he married Audrey Tines at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. He spent his working life farming and raising cattle on the family farm until he retired, at the age of 70. In 1981, the couple moved to McCook where he has spent the remainder of his life.
He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna; one step-daughter, Donna May Clapp in 1999; two brothers, Walter Troester and Fred Troester; and six sisters, Anna Schauer, Rose Schaffert, Emma Fritz, Lena Troester, Meta Troester and Lydia Fritz.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Troester of McCook; two daughters, Irene Smith and husband, Alan of Houston, Texas and Myrna Stewart of Eaton, Colo.; one son, Mervin Troester and wife, Karen of Lincoln; one step-son, Joseph Tines and wife, Rosemary of Fremont; and 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Randy Wahl officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral and inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery in McCook at a later date.
